Job Description Strategic Portfolio Management Officer

D’Ieteren Auto’s Strategic Planning team is responsible for managing and supporting the successful execution of large transformation programmes within the company. The team assists the Executive Team in managing the strategic project portfolio, initiates and manages large and/or strategic projects and supports and coaches initiative owners within business units.

The Strategic Portfolio Management Officer will be responsible for tracking and monitoring progress of the initiatives in the project portfolio and prepare a progress report for the Strategic Planning Manager and Executive Team. He/She will have the following responsibilities:

  • Set-up the reporting process and tools
    • Understand business requirements, define relevant KPIs, etc.
    • Manage the transitin towards the new reporting process and tools with all stakeholders (change management) and act as the ambassador of the selected tools
    • Cntinue improving the reporting tools and process through continuous discussions with all stakeholders
  • Track and report progress
    • Organize mnthly status meetings with local PMOs (at business unit level) to review and challenge progress
    • Prepare the mnthly progress report for the Strategic Planning Manager and Executive Team (including ad hoc analysis when needed)
    • Assist the Finance Team in preparing the mnthly report for shareholders (provide update on key projects)
    • Identify and escalate ptential issues to the Strategic Planning Manager
  • Communicate project news
    • Plan and execute awareness sessins about ongoing initiatives within the company (communication)
  • Act as a coach
    • Supprt local PMOs in setting up the requires processes and tools for effective project monitoring


  • You are organized and structured in your approach (respect deadlines, develop and implement clear project dashboards/reporting, etc.)
  • You have a good understanding of financial and performance metrics (defining the right KPIs, following-up project budget and reviewing forecasts, etc.)
  • You have experiences in project/program management
  • You are able to build good working relationships with (senior) management and project teams: support teams through coaching, organize workshops/meetings to collect input on tool (PMO set-up) and on project status (running mode)
  • You are an excellent communicator
  • You are able to learn to work with new tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, PowerBI)
  • You have analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are a business driven professional, keeping in mind the company challenges and opportunities


  • Masters Degree
  • 5 years of working experience in Project Management/PMO
  • Automotive / Mobility experience or interests is more than welcome
