Procurement Manager D’Ieteren Auto – Job description

Overall purpose of the function:

As Procurement Manager you are responsible for managing the central indirect procurement team, designing & implementing a procurement framework in line with the company’s strategy, collaborating with the different business units to ensure the adoption of the procurement strategy and contributing to the development of a strong procurement culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities:

  • Definition of a procurement strategy
    • Develop and refine category strategies
    • Identification of cost savings opportunities through accurate spend analysis, benchmarking and category approach development
    • In collaboration with the Transformation Office & Business Units, definition & follow-up of the appropriate level of savings ambition
    • Set up of detailed action plans & roadmap by expense category and by team member to ensure roll-out of the new procurement strategy and execution of cost reduction programs
  • Implementation of the adequate governance, processes & policies
    • Design and integrate the frameworks, processes, systems, tools and insights to ensure procurement excellence is embedded into ways of working both at the central team and in collaboration with the business units
    • Creation and review of opportunities to implement best practice purchasing policies and processes. Put in place performance measures and measures to ensure process compliance
    • Ensure purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents are in place and updated. Contribution to the design of appropriate procurement IT landscape
  • Supplier management & purchasing activities
    • Ensure professional and consistent supplier management is applied across the supplier base in line with the purchasing policy
    • Review and negotiate existing agreements to optimise commercial terms & assess tenders from potential suppliers
    • In collaboration with suppliers, implement an effective process to measure performance, quality & compliance based on pre-agreed KPIs
  • People management
    • Manage, coach and develop high performing purchasing and cost estimating team that meets agreed objectives and which deliver best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
    • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
    • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required

Core competences & relevant experience:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing management role in a large organization with mature/best-in-class indirect procurement frameworks, preferably in service/retail industry
  • Strong change management, facilitation and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Eager to structure, organize & implement new ways of working
  • Able to navigate with diverse stakeholders in a matrix organization
  • Solid practical knowledge of the procurement value chain and the procure-to-pay process
  • Knowledge of Microsof Office & standard analytics tools
  • Ability to drive analyses in standard analytics tools
  • Master’s Degree/other advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics or similar is required
  • Team leadership: experienced in line management and management of third parties
